Economic and social activity factors of the agricultural productive cooperatives in the opolskie voivodeship

Abstract

The main objective of the doctoral dissertation was to identify the economic and social factors that have the major influence on functioning of the agricultural productive cooperatives (APCs) in the opolskie voivodeship and on this basis the attempt to define the directions of development of the analyzed subjects. The realization of the objective took into account doing the quantitative research (survey) on a group of 33 and the qualitative research (case study) on the selected five APCs from the area of Opole. The time range of this research covered the years 2008 - 2010. The dissertation consists of five chapters. The first chapter is devoted to the functioning of the agricultural cooperatives from an international perspective, and the second - from the national and regional perspective. The third chapter is analytical and reporting. It presents the results of quantitative research with the analysis of cooperatives' resources and their close environment. The fourth chapter contains the case studies of selected five cooperatives, with particular emphasis on the organizational culture, management processes and economic, technical and social efficiency in these cooperatives. The last chapter's character is analytical and summarizing. On the basis of the conducted analysis it defines the strength and direction of the real impact of selected factors on the activity of APCs in Opole region and it presents the proposal of future variants of functioning of APCs with the specific recommendations for use.
