## An Integrated Method of Management Development in International Companies

### Marcus Dongen

#### Abstract

This research defines the method of development of high potentials in international organizations. l. A concept is defined that describes how leadership and management capabilities can be defined, assessed and developed. This is based on a phased method of development. Depending on the phase, it defines what and how theoretical, practical and feedback experiences should be brought to the individual to optimal match their developmental needs. Finailly it defines organizational prerequisites for optimal development. 2. The characteristics of this concept are brought in front of a stakeholder panel. This is asked if they agree with the theory and if they have experienced the concepts in their own practice. Based on their comments a final method is defined, which can be used to structure the MD processes in companies. 3. The method is formed into an audit tool which is used to score organizations. The companies under audit are global multi-billion US$revenue companies. They represent insurances, consultancy, packaging and pharmaceuticals. As a result patterns of organizational characteristics could be found and trends could be established. The description followed the case study method. 4. Finally the question is conceptualized if it is possible to define a data driven indicator to position talent in the 9-box, as used by HR. The data of this indicator is derived from the value the individuals bring long- and short term to a company. Such scores should be compared with the HR positioning scores of individuals in the 9 box. The chapter hypotheses on the characteristics of such an indicator and uses data simulations to review these assumptions.
