Functional structure o f rural municipalities and their possible developments

Abstract

Local development includes a number of different phenomena of social, economic, and cultural space. Concept of this development is sometimes variously defined. Literature on the subject prevailing view that this development must be understood from the perspective of the development of the community, and its effect is to create new value for its level. Of the 1586 Polish 78 rural communities are located in the Lower Silesia. It must be noted that in the face of urbanization delimitation of rural areas primarily based on administrative criteria. In these areas, the observed population is moving away from traditional activities related to agriculture. This is reflected among other things in the valorisation and use of space. Local development is conditioned by the functional structure of communities, which is particularly evident in relation to such factors as: the dynamics of population growth, income and expenses of the community, the level of infrastructure development, quality of life or different levels of urbanization. Identification and measurement of the functional structure of rural municipalities in the region of Lower Silesia are based on an original procedure, acting supplement and develop the methods used in the study of the functional structures of cities. On this basis are the typalogical classification of Lower Silesia rural corrununities. Two typologies were selected. First identified as a functional space. It was assumed that all forms of economic activity should be addressed to a specific location in space and the use of natural resources. Thus identified four types of functional space. Typology refers to the amount of the second dominant feature. We, therefore, the community one-,two-and-one.
