Acquisitions in automotive industry as a method of increasing value of company

Abstract

Acqujsitions in automotive industry are one of the way of how companies strengthen their market position. However those transactions are causing financial and strategic problems because they are capital intensive and they don't need to have positive rate of return in the future. General objective of the dissertation is to present acquisitions in automotive industry as a method of increasing value of company. Significance of acquisitions based on theirs specificity because in this sector not every acqusition is to increase value of company. The basic aims could be decrease cost of product, decrease cost of labor, decrease income tax, to make use of annual loss of acquired firm or desire to renovate the brand. Asian automotive companies increase their strength in expansion and now their products are good enough to be sold in emerging markets. This trend is not only in automotive sector but is covering various areas of economy. New market expansion, desire to gain new technologies, modernizing of products and production processes, increasing value of company is part of strategy which is and will be used by active participants in emerging markets.
