Abstract

This PhD thesis is organized as follows: Introduction, five chapters and Conclusion. The aim of this study was to create and verify the author’s method of evaluation of Intellectual Capital for enterprises. This thesis examines the methods of measurement of Intellectual Capital in terms of advantages and disadvantages. Based on the literature, it was concluded that all of these methods have disadvantages and it is necessary to create a new method of measuring IC. The new method – Max Card notably eliminates the disadvantages of the current methods. It is based on the form of questions, to which points are assigned. The sum of points from all the responses is an indicator of the level of IC in the company. The method was tested on a group of 20 companies. The study consisted in sending questionnaires to a specific group of companies, more than 200. Return of questionnaires ranged in amount of about 10%. In the first chapter the terminology related to the concept of knowledge and Knowledge Management in the enterprise operating in terms of the knowledge-based economy has been systematized. The second chapter presents the definitions and concepts of Intellectual Capital, which has still not been completely clarified. The third chapter was dedicated to the characterization of the advantages and disadvantages of the most important methods of measuring IC described to the present. The next chapter (fourth) is a presentation of the author's method of measuring Intellectual Capital – Max Card. The fifth chapter shows the results obtained from the study of Intellectual Capital of companies that are affiliated in the clusters of high technology.
