Venture capital/private equity funds on the NewConnect market

Abstract

The doctoral dissertation includes the topics of alternative markets and venture capital/private equity funds as the parts of the capital market. In the paper there is presented the situation of the first Polish alternative market - NewConnect in the first years of its activity and the presence of venture capital/private equity funds in the market considered in the context of the functioning and development of the NewConnect market. The assumptions about the similarity of the investment aims and the target group of entities that are financed through an offer and introducing the shares on NewConnect market and financed by venture capital/private equity funds have been revised. Four main areas of cooperation between the entities operating on the NewConnect market and venture capital/private equity funds have been identified and analyzed in the dissertation. There is also the presentation of the NewConnect market in comparison to other European alternative markets, as well as reflections on the shortcomings of the NewConnect market and prospects for future growth both the NewConnect market and venture capital/private equity market as well as their cooperation.
