Manger’s skills in managing a virtual-network team

Abstract

Based on the analysis of reference books and the research conducted, it seems that contemporary manager should have a set of hard (e.g. language skills) and soft (e.g. inspiring and maintaining confidence and reliability) skills connected with professed values, attitude, and personality traits. The manager should also act professionally in situations of uncertainty and high risk; be perceived as an expert in certain field and the person that can skillfully guide other specialists. To sum up, the main thesis of this dissertation was created: virtual – network conditions influence significant skills needed by a manager to manage a virtual – network team. The following detailed thesis were formulated from research investigations: T1. Development of Information and Communication Technologies influence the evolution of organizational theory and understanding of the virtual – network sphere, T2. There is a possibility to identify how an organization functions, from evolutionary perspective, on one of the three stages of virtuality and networking: hierarchical, hybrid, and virtual – network, T3. Functioning of a team in virtual – network conditions has individual nature, T4. Functioning of a manager in virtual – network conditions has individual nature.
