The conditions and prospects for development of spa&wellness services in Lower Silesia

Abstract
The spa&wellness services market is quite new in Poland and works from a decade. The number of hotels which expanding theirs spa&wellness facilities increases constantly. What is missing is a clear definition of what can be considered as the spa&wellness. The base of market characteristic, demand and supply factors which shaping it wasn’t available only in a literature of subject but most of all had been results of research. Studies have been done between May and July 2011. The research sample consists 607 customers and 20 managers of spa&wellness hotels in Lower Silesia. The paper has both theoretical and practical dimensions. Understanding of causes and conditions of spa&wellness services development allowed to organize the knowledge of a new trend in the field of economics and the economics of tourism (with particular reference to accommodation services). Studies are the diagnosis of spa&wellness market in Lower Silesia. It seems the knowledge of market mechanics will allow to plan the development of spa&wellness facilities in relation to trends. The paper does not exhaust the complexity of the issues which are subject of the dissertation, but completes knowledge about it can help to increase the interest in problems of spa&wellness services market in Poland and further research in this area.Diploma type | Doctor of Philosophy | ||||
