Measurement of costs and effects of individual investments in higher education

Abstract

Doctoral dissertation is about calculating the discounted payback period and modified internal rate of return of investments in higher education in Poland in years 2003-2011. At first the author has presented the types of investments in human capital. The second part of doctoral thesis contains reflections about costs and effects of higher education, which should be included in analysis of profitability of higher education. The third chapter allowed to select a proper methodology of calculation of wage equation, payback period and rate of return of investments in higher education. The last part of doctoral dissertation contains empirical researches about profitability of investments in higher education in Poland in years 2003-2011 based on statistical data from "Social Diagnosis. Objective and Subjective Quality of Life in Poland".
