Małgorzata Czarnas

Abstract

The aim of the doctoral thesis is to present and evaluate the entry strategies of transnational corporations (TNCs) into the Polish market in the years 2000-2010. Because of the available data the thesis is focused on the foreign direct investments (FDI). The first research part presents the statistical analysis of inflow of FDI to Poland as for: value, sector, country and component. Additionally, there is presented an analysis of greenfields and mergers & acquisitions. The data used in this part is a secondary data (from different reports). The second part of the research is based on data collected via survey [n=112]. This part presents expansion paths of TNCs in Poland and is concerned to find out relationship between region (country), sector and entry mode. Additionally, the thesis presents case studies of a few TNCs, as well as stimulus and barriers to enter the Polish market. The theoretical part of the thesis presents concept and definition of TNCs, some theories of enterprise internationalization and globalization, as well as motives and forms of international expansion
