Economic Security and Contemporary Trade Policy: A Contribution to Discussion

Abstract

The concept of economic security is not new. Knowledge of the fact that the economic factor affects or even constitutes an inseparable element of security has been accompanying the evolution of international relations throughout the entire history. The research aim of this article is to explain the need for analysing the phenomenon of economic security in correlation with the implemented trade policy. The authors adopted, among others, method of critical analysis of the available literature and the method of comparative analysis. The importance of global market shares was stressed as determinant of country’s competitiveness which, in turn, confirms the role of export in shaping economic security.
