Abstract

Long-term perspective of the functioning of municipalities and counties provides a basis for reflection on the current territorial division of the country, from the point of view of its efficiency. The aim of the article is to reflect on the territorial division of the local level in Poland and to identify the possible directions of its evolution. The study analyzes the reports on the state of local government in Poland in terms of required territorial changes. Digressions were wasp-decorated both in a broader international context and initiatives at the local level. The analysis allowed for the formulation of the outline of the three conceptions of changes in the Polish territorial system, which can focus further discussion in this regard.
