Economic and Non-Economic Determinants of the Return of Polish Labour Migrants (the Example of Lower Silesia)

The Purpose of The Article Is to Identify the Determinants Of Return And To Establish The Role Of Economic Factors Among Them. The Article Consists of the Theoretical Part, Which Uses The Critical Analysis Of The Scientific Literature On Return Migration And The Practical Part, Which Presents The Results Of Surveys Conducted Among Return Migrants In The Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The Main Results of The Conducted Research Showed That Among Emigrants, Decisive For Return Were The Non-Economic Factors, With A Clear Predominance Of Longing For The Family Left In Poland. Economic Considerations, Such As: Achieving the Intended Economic Goal, Decreasing The Subjective Assessment Of The Profitability Of Work Performed Abroad, Finding Work In Poland Or Losing Work Performed Abroad Were Of Less Importance. The Conducted Analysis Is A Preliminary Examination. Although the Information Collected In The Course Of The Research Is Not Representative And Cannot Be Extrapolated To The Entire Group Of Polish Emigrants, In Relation To The Deficiencies Of Polish Migration Statistics, Based Solely On Residence Data, They Allow The Analysis Of The Return Migration Process And Factors Determining Arrivals To Poland From A New Perspective. The Obtained Results Complementary Knowledge In The Area Of Determinants Of Remigration.
