Abstract

The article attempts to answer the question of the meaning of the theory and whether the strategic management is based on a specific theory (theories). Another objective is to identify the so-called theory proliferation in strategic management and to specify the challenges researchers face in the discipline as well as scientific rigor in making research locating within the strategic management area. Conclusions resulting from the conducted research process lead to the specific findings concerning the proliferation of theories in strategic management, the fragmentation of research and the need for greater integration and coordination of research efforts in the strategic management field
